As a student, resident, fellow, researcher or other learner at Johns Hopkins, you can take advantage of many resources to help you get around, get help, get something to eat and stay safe.

Here are some useful links for managing your day-to-day life on the School of Medicine East Baltimore campus.

Resources for Current Students, Residents and Clinical Fellows

Stay up to date using the Student Information System (SIS). There may be opportunities for you to be reimbursed for expenses you incur in support of student group activities, community service activities, etc.; please review the student reimbursement guideline to help you with this process.

Interested in community involvement?

Students interested in working with community-based organizations in Baltimore can do so with SOURCE, the community engagement and service-learning center for the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Schools of Public Health, Nursing and Medicine.

Libraries

  • Welch Medical Library

    Welch Medical Library serves the informational needs of the faculty, staff, and students of Johns Hopkins Medicine, Nursing and Public Health. The Welch online collection includes approximately 20,000 journals and 1,200 databases.

  • Sheridan Libraries

    Together the Libraries contain more than 4.2 million volumes and provide round-the-clock access to a rich collection of electronic resources, including more than 154,000 print and e-journals, and more than 1.6 million e-books.

     
 

Places to Eat on Campus

Make payment easy with a Dome Pass meal card. 

  • Baja Fresh – Offers a variety of Southwestern items, including burritos, tacos, quesadillas and salads. Open 10 a.m.–10 p.m.

    Cobblestone Café – Offerings include breakfast and lunch, hot entrees, soup, sweets and a self-serve salad bar. Open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m.–4 p.m. Vending machines available 24 hours a day.

    Einstein Bros Bagels – Offerings include bagels, a variety of breakfast treats, gourmet coffee, grab-and-go salads and sandwiches, gourmet soups, and delectable desserts. Open Monday through Friday, 5 a.m.–8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 6 a.m.–5 p.m.

    Flamer’s Charbroiled Grill – Offers a variety of charbroiled chicken, burgers, salads and breakfast favorites. Open 7–2 a.m.

    Noble Roman’s – Offers a variety of pizza choices and baked pasta. Open 7 a.m.–2 p.m.   

    Subway – A popular franchise featuring the standard submarine sandwich on freshly baked breads, sandwich and/or bread specialty products; children’s packs; and freshly baked cookies. Open 24 hours a day.

  • Salad Creations – Located in the Monument Street corridor. Featuring chopped salad specialties, fresh wraps, “create your own” meals, refreshing smoothies and homemade soups. Open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.–8 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

  • Grille 601 – Located on level 2 of the Outpatient Center. Offers a daily selection of breakfast foods, pastries, muffins, hot lunch, soups, salads, and a wide variety of cakes and desserts. Open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

    Blimpie Subs & Salads – Located inside Grille 601. This national franchise offers its standard menu as well as specials. Open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

    Flamer’s Charbroiled Grill – Located inside Grille 601. Offers a variety of charbroiled chicken, burgers, wraps and salads. Open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. 

    Noble Roman’s – Located inside Grille 601. Offers a variety of pizza choices and baked pasta. Open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.

  • Balducci’s – Located in the Zayed Tower Arcade. A premier destination for gourmet food, specializing in prepared foods, meats, cheeses, baked goods, premium coffee and gift baskets.

    Garden Bistro, Balducci’s Café – Offering premium coffee, pastries, and grab-and-go selections. Open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m.–3 p.m.

    Garden Bistro, Balducci’s Market – Open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.–7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.  

  • A student sits in the Wenz Cafe.Wenz Café – Located at 1600 McElderry Street in the Armstrong Medical Education Building, Wenz is a popular spot for students grabbing a quick bite between lectures.

    The Daily Grind – With locations on the third floor of the Miller Research Building and the second floor of the Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Daily Grind offers sandwiches, baked goods, coffee and more.

    Atwater's Café – Located at 855 N. Wolfe Street, Atwater's is a bakery and cafe serving soups, sandwiches and breakfast.

Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Health Equity

The Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Health Equity oversees diversity and inclusion initiatives for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. They work to promote diversity in education, training and professional development for our faculty, fellows, residents, students and staff. At the same time, they aim to foster a spirit of inclusion, making sure that everyone’s voice is heard and that every person is able to contribute to our community.

Campus Security and Safety

There are security guards and other measures in place around campus for your safety. In addition, the University offers complimentary walking and vehicle escorts to provide you with extra support.

During your enrollment you will participate in off-campus activities, such as service-learning components of courses, off-site rotations for required clerkships or elective rotations, and volunteer work. The Office of Student Affairs offers resources and important information regarding student responsibilities and institutional policies to make off-campus activities as productive, safe and positive as possible.
