    Family Lounges

Each floor of Zayed Tower and Bloomberg Children’s Center features a family lounge where visitors can relax in a comfortable environment and enjoy expansive views of the city.

    Meditation rooms

Reflection and spiritual conversation are an essential part of the health care environment. Meditation rooms are located at:

    • The Skip Viragh Outpatient Cancer Center. This space, made possible through the generosity of the Seraph Foundation, is available during the opening hours of the Skip Viragh Building.
    • Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center
    • The Bunting Family Interfaith Chapel, located on the main level in the Arcade.
  • Natural settings can provide a counterbalance to the stresses faced by patients and their families. The Johns Hopkins Hospital provides a few healing gardens designed to promote rest and recovery.

    Sara’s Garden

Made possible by a gift from Steve and Cheryl Wilhide, Sara’s Garden is named in honor of their daughter. Sara Wilhide was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition and was treated at The Johns Hopkins Children's Center. She died in 1989 at the age of 3. Her favorite book, The Little Prince, is the inspiration for this whimsical garden for children.

In Sara’s Garden, kids can simply be kids. They’ll find volcanoes for climbing, an interactive sculpture that lights up like the stars, a baobab tree, and more. Visit the garden in the outdoor courtyard accessible through the food court off the Arcade/main level of the Zayed Tower.

    Meditation Garden

Also off the lobby of the Zayed Tower is The Milton A. and Harriet F. Laitman Memorial Garden, which is part of a series of connected gardens for both patients and guests. This garden provides a serene space for meditation and relaxation.
