Keeping up with our institution's passion for knowledge, the Center for Nursing Inquiry hosts a quarterly journal club to discuss scientific articles, either in the news or recently published. Journal Club is a great way to keep up to date with the current literature, improve your appraisal skills, and learn how to translate knowledge to guide clinical practice. In our May article, we discuss the use of the social media platform TikTok by nurses whose videos featured dancing nurses - videos that were posted during the pandemic. The authors concluded that many of the videos they studied not only damaged the professional image of nurses, but also downplayed the seriousness of the pandemic. Join us as we discuss how one team used the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice Model to assess the efficacy of Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as an adjunctive treatment for Treatment-resistant schizophrenia. They found that CBT shows potential; it can be a safe and effective adjunctive treatment for patients with this illness.
