Dr. Eza B. Ali is originally from Pakistan and grew up in Houston, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Arts in Neuroscience and Arabic from the University of Texas at Austin, followed by her Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Texas A&M University. Her professional interests include infectious diseases, ambulatory care, and academia. Upon completion of her PGY-1 pharmacy residency, Dr. Ali plans to pursue specialty residency training. Ultimately her goal is to practice as a board-certified clinical specialist at an academic medical center with the opportunity to precept pharmacy residents and students. In her free time, she enjoys hiking national parks, defeating her friends at board games, traveling to new countries, learning new languages, playing pickleball, and spending time with her family including her cat (Korra). Dr. Ali would like to sincerely thank her family, friends, and mentors for their continued support, guidance, and encouragement.

Dr. Nicholas DeFreitas is originally from Frederick, Maryland. He earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, followed by his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Pharmacy. His professional interests include cardiology, oncology and acute care. Upon completion of his PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency, Dr. DeFreitas plans to pursue continued training in pharmacy practice and a career as a clinical pharmacist. His long-term goals are to practice at an academic medical center, or community hospital where he will be able to support his community through his work with underserved communities and giving back to his profession through precepting pharmacy students and residents. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis and golf, as well as spending time with friends, family, his wife and their cats. Dr. DeFreitas would like to thank her family, friends and mentors for their continued guidance, encouragement, and support.

Dr. Aicha Fokar is originally from Lubbock, Texas. She attained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Fokar’s current clinical interests include academia, internal medicine, and psychiatry. Her professional goals upon successful completion of PGY-1 include completing a specialized PGY-2 year at a large academic medical center. She hopes to eventually practice as a board-certified clinician and faculty member at a college of pharmacy. Dr. Fokar is passionate about education, patient advocacy, and promoting the profession of pharmacy. Outside of the pharmacy, she loves to cook, exercise, read, and explore different cultural cuisine with her family and friends. Dr. Fokar is incredibly grateful and indebted to her mentors, parents, husband, and sister who have served as constant sources of support, love, and guidance.
