Mission

The mission of the CFC is to support the unique needs of clinical fellows by fostering professional growth, clarifying available resources and organizing social events. In the past, we have fallen under the Post-Doctoral Association, but this was confusing due to the differences between clinical (ACGME-associated) fellows and non-clinical (strictly research) fellows. Therefore, the CFC was formed under the office of GME to represent you better.

Leadership

  • Cynthia Tsay, MPhil, MD

    Chair
    Cynthia Tsay is a second-year Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellow on the physician-scientist research track and currently a chief fellow. She completed her MPhil at the University of Cambridge in the History, Philosophy, and Sociology of Science, Medicine and Technology, her MD at Yale Medical School and her residency in Internal Medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital where she served as the Co-President of the Yale Resident Fellow Council. She enjoys exploring the Baltimore food scene with friends, cultivating her indoor plant collection, and hopes to learn how to sail before the end of fellowship.

  • Jessica Lin, MD, MBA

    Vice Chair of Finance
    Jessica Lin is a first-year Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellow. She is originally from Irvine, California, and went to Baylor College of Medicine, where she completed an MD/MBA in connection with Rice University. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Johns Hopkins. In her free time, she enjoys using her instant pot and air fryer to cook and walking around the Harbor.

  • Kavita Nadendla, MD

    Vice Chair of Communications
    Kavita Nadendla is a first-year Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine fellow at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She is originally from Maryland and completed Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at Johns Hopkins. She is excited to serve trainees as the Vice Chair of Communications. Her career interests include academic medicine and program leadership. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking and camping with her friends, running, cycling, and traveling.

  • Govind Warrier, MD

    Vice Chair of Research
    Govind Warrier is a second-year medical oncology fellow and vice chair of research in the CFC. He earned his M.D. from the University of Louisville School of Medicine with distinction in research. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan, where he also served as a chief medical resident, prior to moving to Baltimore for fellowship training. His research interests center on improving outcomes for patients with cancer receiving immunotherapies and targeted therapies through clinical-translational studies of innovative cancer therapeutics and novel biomarkers of response. His hobbies include traveling with his wife (Rebecca) and border-collie mix (Sammy), playing board games, and curating the perfect Spotify playlists. He is excited to collaborate with the CFC and the Hopkins research community to help fellows make the most of their research training.

  • Tahereh Soleimani, MD

    Vice Chair of Surgery
    Tahereh Soleimani is originally from Iran and completed her medical school at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. She finished her surgery residency at Michigan State University and has now joined Johns Hopkins University as a breast surgical oncology fellow.

  • Lucy Li, MD

    Vice Chair of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
    Lucy Li is a first-year fellow in Infectious Disease. She grew up in Acton, MA and went to Washington University in St Louis for medical and graduate school. She then moved to Baltimore for internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and testing out new recipes

  • Gerard Holder, DO

    Vice Chair of Diversity
    Gerard Holder is pediatric pulmonology fellow at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He is a native of California with roots from the beautiful island of Trinidad and Tobago. He received his medical degree from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM). He completed his pediatric residency at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV in Las Vegas, Nevada. His current passions include addressing health equity within respiratory care and management of various conditions. He has a passion for mentorship as he and his and best friends have started a scholarship and mentorship program for students. He is a huge Laker fan and enjoys spending time with family, friends, and his dog, Hershey!

    Vice Chair of Bayview Affairs
    My name is Tim Chow and I am a first year clinical nephrology fellow. I grew up in Chicago, went to school in Kansas City, and did my Internal Medicine residency at the University of South Florida where I also served as a chief resident. This year I will serve as the Vice Chair of Bayview Affairs and am excited to represent fellows’ interest at Hopkins Bayview. Outside of work, I enjoy trying new restaurants and going to Orange Theory.

  • Eva Valilis, MD

    Chair Emeritus
    Eva Valilis is a second-year oncology fellow and past chair of CFC. She is a Texas native and completed undergrad at UT Austin and medical school at UT Houston. She moved to Baltimore for internal medicine at Johns Hopkins and was treasurer of house staff council her final year. She is excited to continue advocating for and representing trainees.
